You were in New York City?

I have been here for a few days now for business, and although I have limited time to venture I realized that I’ve done nothing.  Therefore I will ask the question to my audience to generate some ideas.

What you would do if you were in New York City?

    Hmmm, I might…

    See a Broadway show
    Look for The Donald
    Do some shopping (outside Manhattan)

    And if I was feeeling adventurous;
Hang out in central park at night
Ride the subway (and see Grand Central Station)

I went to NYC to attend a wedding and extended my stay to a because I’d never been there before. I am not into shows or shopping but wanted to get a decent feel of New York City. I ended up purchasing this coupon book - I think they advertise the book in all of the free tourist guides. Anyway, this coupon book offered something like 6 tickets to various tourist attractions for one fee - something like 50 bucks I think it was. It’s called the NewYorkCityPass.

    The attractions I saw were:
    -Empire State Building
    -USS Intrepid Tour
    -Museum Of Modern Art
-2 hour harbor tour (took me past the Statue Of Liberty)
    -Guggenheim Museum

Since I was staying in the East Side and near the subway, I purchased a 10-ride subway ticket booklet which enabled me to go to Chinatown, Little Italy and of course, Central Station.

If I hadn’t gotten the booklet, I wouldn’t have done the Empire State building or the USS Intrepid but I’m glad I did! I was thinking of taking the Staten Island Ferry to get the Ellis Island view but the harbor tour filled that slot and was well worth it.

I did a lot of walking (it was Summer) and I managed to see Central Park by walking from my hotel TO the Guggenheim. Walking also allowed me to go through Hell’s Kitchen and see the brownstones that show up in all the movies.

I ate a massive pretzel from one of the stands and yes, I did walk through the famous Bloomingdales.
