A Travelers Pet Peeves

So here I am in San Francisco for the Ad:Tech conference. I was meaning to post last night when I got to my Hotel room, but we had a late dinner with one of my Vendors. So by the time I got back to my room, it was already midnight, and in CST, that was 2:00 a.m.

The title of this entry is self explanatory. There are things that annoy me when I travel. Obviously going through security is a pain in the ass, especially when flying internationally. But at the same time I think it is necessary because I rather be safe.

I really don’t like long lay-over. I can stand maybe a couple of hours, but more than that is a drag. There is only so much you can do in an airport.

It annoys me when your luggage does not arrive the same time with you. For some reason it happened to be on it’s way to the other side of the world. What’s even worse is that the Airline can’t guarantee when it will arrive.

It annoys me when you are sitting next to a big person on the plane and half their ass is on your seat or they are hogging the arm rest.

But yesterday during my flight from Denver to San Francisco, I discovered a new pet peeve. That is sitting next to a talkative, curious senior lady. Please don’t’ get me wrong. I have a lot of respects for seniors. I think they are wise about life.

However during this flight, I was watching Gray’s Anatomy on my iPod. I downloaded all of Season Two before I left, because I have never watched it and after seeing a few episode of Season One. I began to really enjoy the show.

While I was watching, I already notice the lady next to me peering over, this already bugs me, and she wasn’t even trying to be discreet about it. She than tapped me on my shoulder, and began to ask questions.

‘Is that a TV show?, How did you get that TV show on your iPod? Do you record it from TV and than put it there? How do you get that from the Internet? Where on the Internet? How?

Of course being the nice guy I am, I answered her questions to the simplest and shortest way I know. In all honesty I didn’t have time to explain to her the digital world, or how it works. There wasn’t enough time, t was only a two and half hour flight. For freak sakes, she was almost a dinosaur. It’s like explaining a cave man how a VCR works. (I know kind of mean, but c’mon I wanted to get back to my show)

Ok, ok. I have to run. I’m headed to the show. I’ll be back to talk more about the Ad:Tech Conference. I’m sure you fellow bloggers, would like to know the hottest and latest trend happening in the Internet.

H&M Presents: Romeo and Juliet

Tamyra Gray is one of my favorite American Idol contestants. Many still believe that she should have won instead of Kelly Clarkson during the first season of American Idol. Her 4th place departure shocked America.

This is a great commercial for H&M. The songs featured are from Dreamgirls. But the story is played out Romeo and Juliet style. It features Mary J Blige, singing ‘When I First Saw You’ and Tamyra Gray performing “And I Am Telling You’.

Tamyra’s vocal and acting performance is amazing. Just listen to the emotions in her voice, its pure talent. I personally think it’s better than Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar winning performance in the movie Dreamgirls.

American Idol Journey Finally Ends for Sanjaya

It took you look enough America! You finally got it right this time around.

After 55 minutes of promotions on tonight’s one hour live result show, we find Sanjaya, Lakisha and Blake on center stage. I thought to myself that if Sanjaya did not go home tonight, that this show would seriously tank.

When Ryan announced that it was Sanjaya going home tonight, the crowd cheered loud as if telling him, ‘Yeah you’re finally going home’. I kind of felt bad for a second when he began to tear up… But it was only a second.

Sanjaya Malakar

Sanjaya surprised us by making it this far with little to no talent. He gave us some bad performances and outrageous hairstyles. Despite receiving negative reviews form the judges, the American voters continue to persevere and put him through week after week. Of course there was help from Anti American Idols, by voting for the worse in hopes that this show would lose its credibility.

On Tuesday night Sanjaya performed to “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk”, I guess it has been a while since he was heavily discussed in the media. Fortunately for him, tonight’s live result show has revived his media buzz.

What’s next for Sanjaya? Will a record company pick him up? Will he take the KFC offer? Or, Will he just become a One Bad Hit Wonder?

Charla and Mirna: Annoying, but Entertaining

This is why I love this show; I get a laugh out of Charla and Mirna. They are probably the most annoying and yet entertaining team on the Amazing Race All Stars. Personally I dislike their methods of using their short status to get ahead, their constant fake accent that they seem to use when speaking to the locals, and their manipulative ways during stressful situations, but during interviews they try and show America that they are good kind hearted people. Phulease….

Watch these scenes from episode eight. It’s hilarious. It’s kind of mean that the producers are playing circus music when Charla was making herself throw up, but it’s still funny as hell. My favorite part is when Mirna is freaking out at Charla in the car, and Charla is asking for Mirna to yell at her some more, because it is not enough. Haahahha. ROFL…

Race and Nationality on Headlines, Is it Necessary?

I’m sure by now everyone has heard of the deadliest shooting in modern day US history, when a student decided to go psycho at the Virginia Tech University, where 32 people died. You can visit HighBrid Nation for some video footage of the shooting.

Although it is a sad and devastating story, I can’t help but get annoyed at the headlines, popping left and right. This is always the case when it comes to Non-Caucasian bad guys. You never hear or see headlines like ‘White Man Kills’ or ‘White Man Goes Crazy’ but you always see and hear in the media ‘Black Man Kills’ or ‘Black Men are Snipers’. Today I see this headline on Google News ‘Korean Student was Campus Killer’.

Headlines

Why is it necessary to add race and nationality on Headlines? Does it sell better? Earn more hits? Why couldn’t they just say ‘Campus Student was Killer’? By adding that he is Korean will do what to the public? Is it warning the public to stay away from Koreans? Does it make it easier for the student in Virginia Tech University to identify potential killers? Ugh…
