Marley and Me ‘life and love with the worlds worst dog’, is a story about John’s young life with his wife Jenny and their neurotic yellow lab name Marley. The story stems away from mainstream books about dogs and their owners, instead John describes their life with Marley in the most honest way.

Marley and Me is so well written that it pulls you in, as if you were part of their family and their journey, the journey of their young love, the heartbreak and joys of raising a family, and the frustrations and hilarity of living with Marley.

Marley, a young yellow puppy who quickly grew into a ninety-seven pound Labrador retriever had a few issues. From attention deficit disorder, to devouring couches and dry wall, from eating jewelry and dragging restaurant tables across the town, he inevitably got classifies as the worst dog ever. He was so bad, that at one point he got kicked out of obedience school. Despite all his flaws, Marley showed tremendous loyalty and love, he went about his life with joy and full of happiness, showing John and the family what really matters in life.

This book is not just for dog owners or lovers. It is for everyone who is looking for a true and honest read with laughter, love and tears. I recommend you pick one up today. But I warn you, don’t make the same mistake as me by reading the last few chapters of the book in a public place. I was on a flight to Vancouver and literally had to put the book down after every sentence as I could not stop crying. Throughout the whole book, I was emotionally invested that by the time I got near the end, I couldn’t hide my emotions.

The best seller is also a major motion picture from Twentieth Century Fox, starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston set to release on Christmas Day. Here’s a preview of Marley and Me the movie.

When Telus announced that they will be the first Canadian mobile provider to carry the Blackberry Storm (Thunder for Verizon). Many Telus customers were excited including me, who by the way hates Telus. Although I am not a big fan of Telus and its weak customer service support and annoying automated machine, I have inevitably been a loyal customer for nearly eight years.

Through that time I have experienced a variety of smart phones. I think my first Blackberry was a 6600 series. I than switched to a palm 700W, which sucked BTW, it kept freezing. Just recently I upgraded back to a Blackberry and took on the World Edition 8830, and I love it. It does what I needed it to do for my job and most importantly, I can use it anywhere in the world.

Despite my dislike for Telus and it’s people. I have chosen to stay with them because of their awesome customer relations department and the deals they gave me whenever I threaten to switch to another carrier. Currently I have unlimited data with Telus which is rare to come across these days. They also gave me the Blackberry 8830 World Edition for $100. They added 250 day time bonus minutes on top of my already 250 day time minutes, gave me unlimited incoming calls, unlimited evenings and weekends, unlimited text messaging, web browsing and email data, as well as all those other features like voice mail, call forwarding and call display, all for roughly $40.00 a month. WOW! I am now saving over $100 a month on my phone bill. Who can say no to that deal huh?

Of course it sounds too good to be true. You’re right. I had to renew my contract for another three years again. Ugh! Which I did, just before the announcement of Telus releasing the Blackberry Storm, Doh!!!! I have been waiting for this one. It has been a secret for a long time from RIM, details of the phone is still vague, but I was determined to find out if this phone will do what I needed it to do and if it does, I’m so getting it.

So during my lunch break today, I stopped by at a local Telus store and asked about the release date of the Storm. The lady at the store mentioned that the latest news she got on the release date was in two weeks. She also mentioned that Telus will not get a lot of it and that each store will roughly get about 20 Storms. Unfortunately she didn’t have the price of the phone, but my guess is that, it will probably cost around $500 - $600 to buy out the phone. I guess it’s worth it if you are a tech whore like me who always has to have the latest phone.

In the post ‘A New Beginning’, I described how I was stupid to not back up my database and inevitably lost all my content. I originally started this blog back in early 2007. I don’t remember exactly the stats of the blog, but I did know that I had over 100 posted articles and was getting quite a bit of unique traffic each day.

I can’t help but get all worked up when I think about all that hard work that was put in, but more importantly I am upset at myself for failing to follow through with consistent flow of articles, organization, and increase security. For freak sakes, I’m in the Internet Marketing field. I should know these things.

I was reminiscing about some of my published articles when I began to search the internet for any trails of my blog. I landed on a website called archive.org; anything published on the internet is archived and can be found using this site. Eureka…

I found majority of my content. I began thinking that it might be worth spending one whole day copying and re-published the content based on its original date, and than I realize that it might take more than a day. I would need to include all outgoing links, also any comments that were left by readers would not be included… bummer. I also realize that anyone linking to my articles will not add relevance to the new blog as the permalink pages of the articles no longer exist. But maybe, just maybe the content itself might be worth it. If the saying is still true that content is king!

CNN projected that Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States?

I was in Time Square NYC, the best place to be at during election night, second to only Grant Park Chicago, Obama’s home town.

It happened just a little after 11:00 p.m. EST on November 4th, 2008. I was fortunate enough to be in NYC on business during election night. My colleague and I decided to join the thousand of people in Time Square where CNN had set up big screen TV’s and surround sound speakers.

As the thousand of people gathered and stood on the streets and sidewalks, watching CNN project each state turn blue or red, I couldn’t help but feel the energy in the area. Never have I been in a place where every person around me was engaged as to what is about to happen.

Although I am Canadian, like many people outside America, we followed and waited for this election. It is no secret that the United States is the leader of the free world, and we all know that the rise and fall of the US has an impact through the rest of the world. So this election is no different, it was as important to the rest of the world as it was to the American people. It was going to define the future for everyone.

And on the hour when CNN projected that Barack Obama beat his Republican opponent John McCain. The crowd in Time Square celebrated triumphantly. Strangers hugged each other and screamed with excitement. There were many tears, laughter, and prayers from every type of person. I’ve heard many around me chant, ‘the world has change, the world has change’ and it sure has. I too could not help myself but join in their celebration.

A nation, not too long ago oppressed minority groups, has just elected the first African American President. Yes, this truly was a historical moment, a night that I will never forget and I am glad that I was at a place among many Americans to celebrate with them on the evening when Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. change.

A colleague of mine is finally ready to propose to his long time girl friend. But according to him, the delay to propose came down to really affording a good ring. Apparently there is a known rule to men that when you are finally ready to jump off the plank, you need to blow about two months worth of salary for an engagement ring. But is the rule of price based on the gross or net salary?

I began researching it and found a 2004 article from CNNMoney.com that describes the real rules. When a survey was done, most woman thought it was on gross, while men though it was on net. However, according to this article knot.com says that the general rule on price for an engagement ring is on net.

During my research I also found numerous message boards where users asked this question (gross or net). I found it interesting that the majority of the answers from people were ‘Buy what you can afford!’ The average blue collar men would probably take this route. But let’s be honest, most men have egos and egos equal expensive rings and in some self-absorb way, men don’t want to come across as CHEAP!

So, my colleague avoided the question about the rule. I know how much he makes, so I have an idea of what a two month salary type of ring would look like.

Whether gross or on net, the ring would be pretty decent.

He finally told us that he bought a 1 carat diamond ring on a white gold band. Wow, 1 carat! Apparently only 1% of the population will ever own a 1 carat diamond ring. The average engagement ring is about .25 - .50 carats. So with a 1 carat diamond ring, I knew he followed the rule on price if not went above it,And they say Love Don’t Cost A Thing… Pffff…

A couple of months ago the blog was hacked and I was unable to log in and retrieve any of the content. Of course I did not back up the database (warning: back up your blog), hence the empty walls you see.

However, prior to the blog being hacked, it was a little dormant and although I was disappointed at the lost content, I looked at this as an opportunity to get things going again.

This time, I’ll stay focus on trying to keep it real. When I say real, I’m referring to discussing topics that is my life, my, environment, my passion, my interest, my ideas, my world.

Let’s see how long this one actually goes for…;-)
