Lost Your Blog Content? Internet Archive!
In the post ‘A New Beginning’, I described how I was stupid to not back up my database and inevitably lost all my content. I originally started this blog back in early 2007. I don’t remember exactly the stats of the blog, but I did know that I had over 100 posted articles and was getting quite a bit of unique traffic each day.
I can’t help but get all worked up when I think about all that hard work that was put in, but more importantly I am upset at myself for failing to follow through with consistent flow of articles, organization, and increase security. For freak sakes, I’m in the Internet Marketing field. I should know these things.
I was reminiscing about some of my published articles when I began to search the internet for any trails of my blog. I landed on a website called archive.org; anything published on the internet is archived and can be found using this site. Eureka…
I found majority of my content. I began thinking that it might be worth spending one whole day copying and re-published the content based on its original date, and than I realize that it might take more than a day. I would need to include all outgoing links, also any comments that were left by readers would not be included… bummer. I also realize that anyone linking to my articles will not add relevance to the new blog as the permalink pages of the articles no longer exist. But maybe, just maybe the content itself might be worth it. If the saying is still true that content is king!
