Ad:Tech London 2007

The 2007 Ad:Tech London was held again at the Olympia National Hall from September 24 - 25. This year I found the conference larger with more exhibits and also more attendees.  Thankfully my main priority with these conferences is networking, so a larger exhibit hall was valuable.

However, I try to attend some sessions if schedule permits, but usually I would attend the Keynotes. Unfortunately there wasn’t anything new that the speakers spoke about that we haven’t heard the industry talk about before.

Consumer behavior is changing in terms of how they interact with media and brands. Therefore media needs to change, because consumers wants to interact with advertiser and as a result marketers need to change their strategy to make their campaigns more interactive with the consumer. Confused?  It’s really simple to understand. Here is a funny video that simply explains it all.

A Travelers Pet Peeves

So here I am in San Francisco for the Ad:Tech conference. I was meaning to post last night when I got to my Hotel room, but we had a late dinner with one of my Vendors. So by the time I got back to my room, it was already midnight, and in CST, that was 2:00 a.m.

The title of this entry is self explanatory. There are things that annoy me when I travel. Obviously going through security is a pain in the ass, especially when flying internationally. But at the same time I think it is necessary because I rather be safe.

I really don’t like long lay-over. I can stand maybe a couple of hours, but more than that is a drag. There is only so much you can do in an airport.

It annoys me when your luggage does not arrive the same time with you. For some reason it happened to be on it’s way to the other side of the world. What’s even worse is that the Airline can’t guarantee when it will arrive.

It annoys me when you are sitting next to a big person on the plane and half their ass is on your seat or they are hogging the arm rest.

But yesterday during my flight from Denver to San Francisco, I discovered a new pet peeve. That is sitting next to a talkative, curious senior lady. Please don’t’ get me wrong. I have a lot of respects for seniors. I think they are wise about life.

However during this flight, I was watching Gray’s Anatomy on my iPod. I downloaded all of Season Two before I left, because I have never watched it and after seeing a few episode of Season One. I began to really enjoy the show.

While I was watching, I already notice the lady next to me peering over, this already bugs me, and she wasn’t even trying to be discreet about it. She than tapped me on my shoulder, and began to ask questions.

‘Is that a TV show?, How did you get that TV show on your iPod? Do you record it from TV and than put it there? How do you get that from the Internet? Where on the Internet? How?

Of course being the nice guy I am, I answered her questions to the simplest and shortest way I know. In all honesty I didn’t have time to explain to her the digital world, or how it works. There wasn’t enough time, t was only a two and half hour flight. For freak sakes, she was almost a dinosaur. It’s like explaining a cave man how a VCR works. (I know kind of mean, but c’mon I wanted to get back to my show)

Ok, ok. I have to run. I’m headed to the show. I’ll be back to talk more about the Ad:Tech Conference. I’m sure you fellow bloggers, would like to know the hottest and latest trend happening in the Internet.

Ad:Tech London - Day Two

Ad:Tech Exhibit HallVideo advertising, Social Media and Mobile marketing are just a few of the new medium that is taking off.  As mentioned in my previous post consumers have so many choices in receiving information. Advertisers and Marketers need to realize that it’s no longer about doing mass marketing or blasting them with ads that are not relevant to the consumer.

The exhibit hall in this year’s Ad:Tech London shows evidence of the new wave of doing online marketing. There seems to be a lot of Mobile vendors such as Enpocket and Embrace mobileEyeblaster, is one of the leaders in providing interactive video ads. TheFutureFor.com, is a video site production company. Take advantage of the new wave, before you get left behind.  The future is here.

Ad:Tech London - Day One

Ad:TechWeb 1.0 is out and Web 2.0 is in, was one of the main themes is this years Ad:Tech London.  Yes the traditional annoying and interruptive ads are no more, it’s all about engaging wit h the user.  The consumer is in control, they have many choices of receiving information.  The growth of open source software, file sharing and user generated content has proven that it is no longer a trend but a shift in culture, society and the economy.

What does this mean for us marketers and advertisers?  It means that brands need to have a human voice that is authentic and real. Ads must communicate to the consumer’s own terms. Advertiser and Marketers needs to create emotional content to get the consumer to engage, experience and interact.
