Race and Nationality on Headlines, Is it Necessary?
I’m sure by now everyone has heard of the deadliest shooting in modern day US history, when a student decided to go psycho at the Virginia Tech University, where 32 people died. You can visit HighBrid Nation for some video footage of the shooting.
Although it is a sad and devastating story, I can’t help but get annoyed at the headlines, popping left and right. This is always the case when it comes to Non-Caucasian bad guys. You never hear or see headlines like ‘White Man Kills’ or ‘White Man Goes Crazy’ but you always see and hear in the media ‘Black Man Kills’ or ‘Black Men are Snipers’. Today I see this headline on Google News ‘Korean Student was Campus Killer’.
Why is it necessary to add race and nationality on Headlines? Does it sell better? Earn more hits? Why couldn’t they just say ‘Campus Student was Killer’? By adding that he is Korean will do what to the public? Is it warning the public to stay away from Koreans? Does it make it easier for the student in Virginia Tech University to identify potential killers? Ugh…
Britney, Paris, Lindsay: Who is the Most Popular of Them All?
Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Which of these personalities does the Internet community love more? Yes we see their faces on magazines, their behaviors caught on tape, and their names constantly mentioned on the radio. But which of these media grabbers does the online world love more?
I visited the Overture Keyword Tool to find out who was search more and what about them, that the online community loves. No surprise that we find the ‘head shaving, tattoo manic, umbrella hitting and rehab favorite Britney Spears’ in front of the pack. The name ‘Britney Spears’ was searched 3.6 Million times in the month of February. Paris and Lindsay was a far second and third with just a little over 1 Million searches.
It’s safe to assume that 50% of those searches were from Males who can’t afford to pay for real porn, as it is evident when terms like ‘uncensored, nude and pictures’ followed the keyword ‘Britney Spears’. The same can be said for the keywords ‘Paris Hilton’ and ‘Lindsay Lohan’.
Well you know what they say, no media is ever bad media and I’m sure most internet sites such as Peogles love to capitalize on these high searched keywords. Who wouldn’t? They bring it traffic and perverted guys. Sorry dudes. This is a PG-13 site. Keep moving.
Haterism on Jennifer Hudson
Prior to Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar win for best supporting actress in her role as Effie White in the movie Dreamgirls, she was the media’s favorite Cinderella story. Now she is the media’s favorite star to hate on.
Jennifer Hudson has been receiving numerous rumors of her ‘diva’ like attitude, saying that she is too big for the common people. Reports also claims that she refused to attend the Soul Train Awards, and Clive Davis had to beg her to attend, when the matter of the fact is that she did attend the awards at her own will, and was one of the only big names to do so. Recently her performance for Starbucks bosses was cancelled because of extravagant demands, one being that she wanted baked chicken wings for breakfast, which was the straw the broke the camels back.
Are these new claims on Jennifer Hudson true? I don’t buy it. Our friends at TMZ say that it was her agent who put together the wish list which included cars and chicken wings, it was sent to Starbucks without Hudson’s knowledge. She needs to fire her damn agent, before this gets out of hand. You know the media, they love to hate on successful young stars.

Former “American Idol” finalist Mario Vasquez is facing accusations that he tried to masturbate in front of a male employee in a bathroom on the set of the hit show in February 2005.
Shortly thereafter, Vasquez mysteriously dropped out of “Idol,” citing personal reasons.
According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ, Vazquez allegedly “sexually harassed” Magdaleno Olmos, assistant accountant for Fremantle Media, the company that produces American Idol.
In the lawsuit, Olmos claims “Vazquez stared lasciviously, smiled lasciviously … and on one occasion followed him into a bathroom … knocked on the door of the plaintiff’s stall and made eye contact through the space in the stall door.”
The lawsuit alleges that Vazquez “started to rub his genitals over his pants. Attempting to leave the bathroom, Olmos opened the door of the stall and saw Vazquez standing in front of him with his pants down masturbating.”
According to the documents, Vazquez pushed Olmos “further into the stall and continued masturbating with one hand and trying to pull down Olmos’ pants with another hand.”
Olmos claims that he tried to “cover his body with his hands” but Vazquez touched his “chest and stomach underneath his shirt, and Olmos’ “genitals” as Vazquez “attempted to unzip” Olmos’ pants.
Vazquez then allegedly asked Olmos “if he wanted oral sex.”
In the lawsuit, Olmos claims that as he “managed to get out of the stall, and attempted to leave the bathroom,” Vazquez, grabbed his arm “in an effort to stop him.” Vazquez continued to call Olmos to come back as Vazquez “stood in the bathroom with his pants still down.”

Rob and Amber, Their Reign on Reality TV Finally Ends!
What seemed to look like that Rob and Amber were the team to beat, was distorted by Charla and Mirna who surprisingly edge them at the end of tonight’s episode of the Amazing Race All Star edition.
Rob and Amber were consistently the strongest team in the group, leading the pack and winning the first three legs of the race. Unfortunately wrong decisions of the detour, karma and Charla and Mirna got the best of them on tonight’s episode.
Robber (Rob and Amber), got their first taste of Reality TV on the hit show Survivor. They were then cast on the All star edition of Survivor where their relationship and snake like strategy, took them in the final two. Amber ended up winning the Survivor title, by then Rob and Amber was a couple. They continued their onscreen relationship off-screen and later got married on national TV.
Their next appearance was on the Amazing Race 7, where again they showed that they were the team to beat. They made it to the final race to only come in second place behind Amazing Race 7 winners Uchenna and Joyce who are also in the All Star Edition.
Tonight, Rob and Amber played no differently than any other leg. They made smart moves, acted first and as always lied and schemed their way to first. Unfortunately the decision to choose the physical detour that required thinking and spelling cost them valuable time.
In the end they found themselves with America’s second most hated team Charla and Mirna, at the road block as the last two teams. The task was to find a letter addressed to them from a pile of envelopes. Charla and Mirna beat them on the task, and although Rob and Amber jokingly said that they ‘can beat them any day on a foot race’, they knew that there was a strong chance that they would be eliminated tonight.
As they crossed the finish line in last place, and when Phil said the magic words “I’m sorry to tell you that you have been both eliminated from the raceâ€. It was sad that their Reality TV reign was over. This could be the last time we see Rob and amber on TV. Offers from other networks were now slim, since they’ve were badly beaten early on in the race, and the ironic part was, that they were beaten by Charla and Mirna who are the weakest team from the group. I didn’t really care who would of went home tonight. I would have been happy either way. However Charla and Mirna’s psychotic relationship towards each other is freakin hilarious. They are much more entertaining than Rob and Amber.
What will Rob and Amber do now? Will we ever see them again on Reality TV? I’m sure America and the general public won’t miss them at all.
