Madison Square Garden Experience: Rangers vs. Flyers
The yearly Ad:Tech show in New York was earlier this week and as usual the purpose of the trip was business. Thankfully this year, we were able to sneak a few hours to experience New York City at its best. New York is well known for its tall buildings, fashion district, great night life and of course passion for their sports team.
My colleague accompanied me this time around. He is one of the biggest hockey fans I know, for me not so much, I’m more of the Basket Ball type of guy. The New York Rangers had a scheduled game that Monday night against the Philadelphia Flyers which of course was sold out. However, this did not stop him from purchasing tickets through a ticket broker paying twice as much as what they normally were going for, he ended up dragging me along.
At first I wasn’t excited to go, I was tired from the long day of non stop meetings, haven’t had dinner yet and I wasn’t in the mood to watch an NHL game live, because quiet frankly I don’t even watch it on TV. But once we arrived at the arena and made our way through the crowded fans outside the building, I began to feel a sense of excitement and thought to myself. ‘This was actually a big deal. I’ve never seen an NHL game live before and better than that I was watching the New York Rangers play at Madison Square Garden. Whoa!’
Once we got to the 17,000 seat arena to locate our seats (BTW, they were awesome seats) my excitement grew, I was in awe of the arena, as if I’ve never seen one before. Maybe it was the energy and vibe that the New Yorkers were oozing out into the air. Whatever it was, I knew at that time that I would enjoy the night.
We sat there, watching the players practice before the game started, talking about what a great experience this was, drinking our beers, eating hot dogs and having a good time.
It was a full house and the crowd cheered when the opening ceremony began. The roar of the fans was even louder as soon as the first period began. Within seconds of it, you heard the crowd chant ‘Let’s go Rangers, let’s go’ you just felt their passion, their support, dedication and we couldn’t help but join in.
The Rangers ended up Winning against the Flyers 2 – 0. It was my first NHL game and the experience itself gave me a different outlook on the sport of Hockey. It’s an experience I will never forget and I’m glad that my colleague dragged me out. I had a great time.
Take A Trip to Lake Louise and Relax!
During the last four years of my life, I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the world, all in thanks to my awesome career. Most of the times the trips are strictly business and less play. For those who are business travelers, you know how it goes. You are working from the time you leave the office until you return home and in your bed.
I just recently came back from Lake Louise for our management retreat. yes it was a Retreat so this trip was more of a relaxed environment. It was time to unwind and recharge.

I never knew a place like this existed in Canada. It is in Alberta near the Canadian Rockies. The setting was beautiful. When we got to our location, you immediately felt the relaxed environment. The fresh air never smelled so good and you can hear the glaciers melt, it was a beautiful sound.

I have never stood close to any mountain before, and here I was near the Canadian Rockies, the tip of the mountains is also know as the borders that divide Alberta and British Columbia. The skies are known as BC Skies. Ahhhhh. Breath taking I tell you.
A Travelers Pet Peeves
So here I am in San Francisco for the Ad:Tech conference. I was meaning to post last night when I got to my Hotel room, but we had a late dinner with one of my Vendors. So by the time I got back to my room, it was already midnight, and in CST, that was 2:00 a.m.
The title of this entry is self explanatory. There are things that annoy me when I travel. Obviously going through security is a pain in the ass, especially when flying internationally. But at the same time I think it is necessary because I rather be safe.
I really don’t like long lay-over. I can stand maybe a couple of hours, but more than that is a drag. There is only so much you can do in an airport.
It annoys me when your luggage does not arrive the same time with you. For some reason it happened to be on it’s way to the other side of the world. What’s even worse is that the Airline can’t guarantee when it will arrive.
It annoys me when you are sitting next to a big person on the plane and half their ass is on your seat or they are hogging the arm rest.
But yesterday during my flight from Denver to San Francisco, I discovered a new pet peeve. That is sitting next to a talkative, curious senior lady. Please don’t’ get me wrong. I have a lot of respects for seniors. I think they are wise about life.
However during this flight, I was watching Gray’s Anatomy on my iPod. I downloaded all of Season Two before I left, because I have never watched it and after seeing a few episode of Season One. I began to really enjoy the show.
While I was watching, I already notice the lady next to me peering over, this already bugs me, and she wasn’t even trying to be discreet about it. She than tapped me on my shoulder, and began to ask questions.
‘Is that a TV show?, How did you get that TV show on your iPod? Do you record it from TV and than put it there? How do you get that from the Internet? Where on the Internet? How?
Of course being the nice guy I am, I answered her questions to the simplest and shortest way I know. In all honesty I didn’t have time to explain to her the digital world, or how it works. There wasn’t enough time, t was only a two and half hour flight. For freak sakes, she was almost a dinosaur. It’s like explaining a cave man how a VCR works. (I know kind of mean, but c’mon I wanted to get back to my show)
Ok, ok. I have to run. I’m headed to the show. I’ll be back to talk more about the Ad:Tech Conference. I’m sure you fellow bloggers, would like to know the hottest and latest trend happening in the Internet.
Daydreaming
Daydreaming is alright as long as you kept it cool. This is one of my daydreams.
I was looking at a clock and thinking about the twelve digits and twenty-four hours. I always had trouble figuring out the sameness of military time and am pm. It was three am. And I decided to practice time. What is three am in military time, I asked myself. So I thought of twenty-four hours made up of two twelve hour parts, the am and the pm. Then I added the number three and twelve which came to fifteen; so I said to myself that three am is the hour of fifteen hundred in military time. That was the first way I did it.
Then I decided to learn something about myself, a challenge to use my math in order figure something out. Because this way figuring out time was always something that I wanted to learn but was always to busy daydreaming during high school to pay attention when it was being taught. I thought to myself that there is be a better way of translating fifteen hundred into am pm. I found out that all it took was a little algebra. I had to remind myself that I was trying to figure out the translation of military time to am pm, two systems that coexist in our telling of time. Then I came with twenty-four as the body and fifteen as a. The number I’m looking for is x. So I said, twenty-four minus fifteen is nine. Then the algebra came. Nine plus x is twelve, so, x equals three. I did it, I said to myself, yes. I was finally certain that fifteen hundred hours is also three am. It worked the original way and worked the mathematical way.
That was cool. So I realized that there are different ways of doing things, different styles, even for just one person. Then I thought of evolve. If humans, one day, are going to have the ability to fly then surely we will also be able to breathe water.
We already have men that can fly as men. Imagine a man who can fly like a bird and breathe underwater; we would have the greatest sport ever known to man.
Taking a Break!
I’m sure you guys notice the lack of activity on the Peogles blog. I’m actually taking a little break and on vacation. I’ve been in Toronto for the last couple of days now, and I won’t be back to my regular routine until Tuesday. However being here has given me a few ideas to blog about. Stay tuned!
Back in the Big Apple
It’s that time of the year again where I do my annual business visit to the great city of New York. Ad:tech NYC 2006 is being held at the Hilton Hotel from November 6 – 8.
I’m on a schedule this week and have limited time to do any personal rounds, which is ok as this is my third year here. However I do want o skate at the Rockefeller Center where my boi is going to take me.
I’ll post my recent experience of Ad:tech and NYC soon.
